Époisses is a small village in Burgundy. It is famous for its eponymous cheese.

  • The Château d'Epoisses (pictured in this article) is well worth looking at.
  • The Church of Saint-Symphorien d'Epoisses is a harmonious and somewhat austere construction, with a nice 15th-century pieta inside.

Buy

  • Berthaut. A shop where you can buy the famous soumaintrain cheese. Their "flamiche" (kind of pizza with soumaintrain cheese) is also a must.

Eat

  • While in Époisses, try Époisses de Bourgogne cheese, which is strong and runny and made from raw cow's milk.
