Ballerup

Ballerup is a municipality in the North Zealand region of Denmark, approximately 15 km from central Copenhagen. The municipality has a population of 50,000 in 2023. It is also the name of the municipal seat, Ballerup.

Get in

By train

S-train lines C and H goes through the region and stops at Skovlunde, Malmparken and Ballerup. Travelling from Copenhagen to Ballerup is about 30-40 minutes. Or if you're going even further S-train lines C and H stops at Måløv and even further only the S-train lines C stops at Kildedal.

Get around

To get around within each of the towns in the region, walking is fine. To get between Måløv, Skovlunde and Ballerup, go by S-train for a few minutes. To get to Smørum-nedre, take the S-train to Ballerup Station and then bus 216. (834 - Servicebus- Ballerup St. - Skovlunde St. - Ballerup St.) and (835 - Servicebus- Ballerup St. - Måløv - Ballerup St.).

Purchase a Single Ticket if you only intend to use public transport a few times during your stay, or consider a City Pass if you plan to travel by public transport on multiple occasions. Both tickets can easily be purchased through the DOT Tickets app or using ticket machines available at selected stations. By train

  • S-trains, lines C and H, Towards to Copenhagen Central Station, Østerport St., Klampenborg St., Farum St. or to Frederiksund St. from Ballerup St. And some trains lines C and H only stops/ end of the line at Ballerup St. That means the train is not taking any passages and will depart shortly and will drive a little further to a cleaning station so this train can be ready for the next rides and also the train driver can relax for a little bit and also so the trains can be cleaned inside and washed a little bit and returned after that to the station again to Ballerup St.
  • Steam Locomotive, diesel locomotive, special trains rides, Ballerup-Klampemborg, Klampemborg-Ballerup with single tickets or returns with return tickets and the train is running by volunteers, only driving doing holidays. Prams, pushchairs, wheelchairs and electric scooters can be transported to the freight wagons while driving, and you will receive your things when you arrive to the next station if you want to get off of the train of course and while driving you are allowed to stand on the other side of the door on the small platform between the two doors. And smoking is also allowed, but it's only out on the small platforms, smoking it's not allowed inside of the train and their wagons. When you arrive to the last station you can get off and go to the famous amusement park Bakken in Klampenborg to try some of those rides at amusement park or just get something to eat at some of the many places and restaurants and cafes around the amusement park or you could also in a horse You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage around the King's Deer Park. But you can also wait for Klampenborg St. itself and wait for the steam locomotive to be disconnected, turn around and then drive back to the wagon again to drive back from Klampenborg Station to Ballerup Station again.
