- 🌍 Bhojeshwar Temple (Bhojpur Temple). King Bhoj founded Bhojpur in the early medieval period, between 1010 and 1053 AD, and the temple has played a significant role in establishing Bhojpur's reputation across India. It is also known as Bhojeshwar Temple and was constructed on a hill in the hamlet of Bhojpur. Raja Bhoj ordered the construction of the Shivling, a 7.5 ft (2.3 m)-tall monolithic stone, about 18 ft (5.5 m) in circumference, on a 21 ft (6.4 m)-tall platform. This is the only Shivaling where you can do parikrama. However, the temple never reached its completion and these days, the Archaeological Survey of India looks after its maintenance and completion.
