Cahul

Cahul is in the southwestern corner of Moldova, a few kilometers east of the Romanian border.

Understand

The city is in the far south of Moldova, and has during its history changed hands between many empires and countries, and many battles have been founght in the region. The most famous of them was the Battle of Kagul in 1770 between Russia and Turkey — the modern name of the city comes from that battle. In the present day the city is known for its thermal baths and folk music.

The city has an international airport, which however is disused.

By train

There are train services from Chișinău.

By car

Cahul is a road hub in this corner of the country and there are roads from the rest of the country (north) as well as from Romania (west) and Ukraine (east), hence you can easily get in by car.

One of Cahul's main attractions are the mineral springs, which has made it a spa and health resort destination.
