Central Haiti
Central Haiti covers the central and eastern section of the country, and is home to the capital, Port-au-Prince.
Cities
- 🌍 Port-au-Prince (Pòtoprens) — the big chaotic capital that needs no introduction.
- 🌍 Hinche (Ench)
- 🌍 Kenscoff — a cool mountain retreat from the hectic life of Port-au-Prince.
- 🌍 Mirebalais
- 🌍 Pétion-Ville — the wealthy side of Port-au-Prince, just to its south.
- 🌍 Saint-Marc (Sen Mak) — a busy port serving the populous north central section of the country.
- 🌍 Verrettes (Vèrèt) — a small city with low crime and a busy live music/nightlife scene.
Other destinations
- 🌍 Gonâve Island — Haiti's largest island is a nightmarish vision—the island is ecologically devastated and overpopulated with, essentially, the poorest of the poor who were forcefully relocated by the government to here from Port-au-Prince. Less than a third of the island's population has access to potable drinking water. There are no tourist attractions on this one-time tropical island paradise; no hotels.
