Central Montenegro

Central Montenegro is a region in Montenegro. It is centered around the capital Podgorica.

Cities

🌍 Podgorica – The capital and biggest city in Montenegro, experiencing a huge architectural boom in the last couple of years.
🌍 Cetinje – The old royal capital of Montenegro, with a large number of museums, monasteries and former embassies.
🌍 Danilovgrad – Near the famous Ostrog monastery.
🌍 Nikšić – The second largest city in Montenegro and economically important.
🌍 Rijeka Crnojevica – A small historical town on the ancient trading route through the country.
🌍 Tuzi – A small town in the Podgorica municipality which is a major trading center, due to its location, between the Montenegrin capital and Albania.
🌍 Virpazar – The main entry point to the Skadar lake, belongs to the municipality of Bar.

🌍 Lovćen National Park – A beautiful mountain with natural, cultural and historical scenery, and the spectacular Mausoleum of Njegoš.
🌍 Skadar Lake National Park – The largest lake on the Balkans and the natural habitat of the very diverse flora and fauna.

Podgorica Airport (TGD^IATA) – The only international airport in this region, all others are at the coast.

Buses are frequent and most connect to Podgorica or Nikšić, but also available between smaller towns.

Hitchhiking is possible and not hard.

Mausoleum of Njegoš – The mausoleum on top of Mt. Lovćen with amazing views into all neighbouring countries, if the sky is clear.
Ostrog Monastery – An amazing Serbian Orthodox monastery situated on the almost vertical cliff of Mount Ostrog.
