Cordele, a town named after a colonel's daughter named Cordelia, is the self-described "Watermelon Capital of the World." It hosts its annual Watermelon festival in June.

See
- 🌍 Georgia Veterans State Park, 2459 US-280 W (9 miles west of Cordele), ☏ +1 229 276-2371. Daily 9AM-5PM. This Georgia state park on the east bank of Lake Blackshear pays tribute to the armed forces of the United States with various artillery and aircraft on display.
- 🌍 Titan I Missile, 1815 E 16th Ave (at junction of I-75 and US Route 280 East.). A rather unusual spectacle is this Titan I Missile on display in town, to pay homage to the Cold War arms race or US nuclear deterrence strategy, however you see it.
Sleep
- 🌍 Ramada by Wyndham Cordele, 2016 16th Ave E, ☏ +1 800 922-5548. Interesting foyer with grand staircase and an outdoor pool framed with some palm trees. Complimentary breakfast.
