  • Cuba Cheese Shoppe, 53 Genesee St, +1-800-543-4938. M-F 8:30AM-6PM, Sa Su 8:30AM-5PM. Before Wisconsin, there was Cuba, which locals say was once known as the "Cheese Center of the World". (No word on what the French think of that.) At any rate, cheese was big business here from the mid-19th to the mid-20th centuries. The building at 53 Genesee St once stored large amounts of local cheddar and other cheeses, chilled with ice cut from Cuba Lake. Today it's a cheese shop, purveying local farmgoods from cheese and yogurt to BBQ sauce and maple syrup.

  • Moonwinks, 9302 Jackson Hill Rd (Just over a mile north of I-86 on Route 305), +1 585 968-1232. M-Sa noon-10PM, Su noon-9PM; closed 25 Dec. Being the only sit-down restaurant of note for miles around, this homey tavern with the iconic logo puts on a number of different faces depending on need. In one respect, it's a banquet facility with white tablecloths and simple but well-made classic American entrees. In another, it's a casual family-friendly restaurant with some innovative twists on traditional fare. And it's also a local's hangout and bar, with friendly staff, a cadre of regulars, and a menu of greasy but tasty tavern food. Whichever way you slice it, though, Moonwinks serves up good quality grub for a reasonable price. Many a traveler along I-86 has made it a regular stop.

There are also McDonald's and Subway outlets in town.
