Fayence

Fayence is an idyllic village with more than 4000 citizens. It is close to the cote d'azur but it lays in the hills and isn't that hot in summer. It has a famous old town and a 12th century pittoresque castle. Today Fayence is a famous tourist city and although known for the one of Europe's largest gliding centers.

The city homepage is available in English and offers good information.

Get in

From north via Mons or east of Grasse (25 km on the Route Napoleon). From the south St. Raphael via Fréjus is nearest on the Cote d'Azur.

Get around

The village is rather compact so it is best discovered on foot, as it's far to hilly for riding a bike, and many roads are pedestrian only (although this rule doesn't seem to apply to locals)

Sleep

There are several private apartments and hotels in the village that offer amazings views. The tourist (mail: ot.fayence@wanadoo.fr Tel:+33 (0)4.94.76.20.08) is specialised in organising accommodation.
