Havre is a town in Montana. About 9,300 people lived there in 2020.
Understand
Havre is home to Montana State University β Northern. Havre serves as the "big city" for a huge radius of small towns. The nearest major city, Great Falls, is about 120 miles (190 km) to the south. Wild Horse Border Crossing into Canada is 44 miles north and it is one of the lowest volume ports between the countries.
Towns along US Highway 2 in Montana are usually referred to as being on the "Hi Line".

Get around
The town stretches along US Highway 2 for several miles. The majority of businesses, restaurants, and motels are in this path which means you will probably need a car to get around.

Archaeological site at a location that had been used as a buffalo jump by three different Native American groups. Tour begins at the entrance behind Holiday Village Mall and is weather dependent. Rail and gritty underground dioramas from Havre's past. When fire destroyed most of the town, many businesses moved into the basements and connected the basements with each other while the town was rebuilt. Adult $17, child (6-12) $9, under 5 free.
