Horna Orava

Horna Orava (Upper Orava) is a Protected Landscape area, part of Beskids in Western Carpathians in Orava of Slovakia.

  • 🌍 Namestovo. A small (population under 8000) city, but biggest in the region.

  • 🌍 Orava forest railway (Oravská lesná železnica). A tourist railway between Tanečník stations and the Beskydy saddle on Orava. (updated Jan 2024) A similar railway operates in in the nearby Kysuce.
  • 🌍 Viewing tower near Hviezdoslav lodge. Nearby there are also literary expositions of Slovak writers Hviezdoslav and Urbab.

  • 🌍 Orava dam (Oravská priehrada). Watersports and relax. (updated Nov 2016)
  • 🌍 Babia hora. One of the best observation hills due to its majesty and location. The rocky peak offers a far circular view in good weather. (updated Jan 2024)
  • 🌍 Little Babia hora. The mountain is a frequent destination for tourists. Despite the fact that it is somewhat in the shadow of the bigger mountain, the main hiking trail to the neighboring landmark leads right through its peak. The circular outlook from the peak is mostly unobstructed due to low vegetation. (updated Jan 2024)
