Jaisinghpur

Jaisinghpur (Hindi: जयसिंहपुर, Punjabi: ਜਯਸਿਂਹਪੁਰ) is a small town and Tehsil in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India.

Population of Jaisinghpur Town is 1,273 and overall population of Jaisinghpur tehsil is 58,623. It was named after the name of Katoch king of Princely ordered state Kangra-Lambagraon, Maharaja Jai Singh. It is situated on the bank of river Beas. It is known for its "chougan", a term used in Himachal for plains.

Newly-upgraded Kangra-Gaggal Airport (DHM IATA) in Kangra, 73 km away, has flights from Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla and Jaipur. Flights are prone to cancellation due to bad weather or because enough passengers didn't show up, so leave some leeway for onward connections on the way out.

By bus

Most people come to Jaisinghpur by bus. It has good connections with other parts of North India, although the journeys are often slow due to the narrow winding roads in the hills. HRTC buses from Hamirpur cost ₹47 and take 1.5-2 hours to Jaisinghpur and from Chadhiyar ₹25 taking 1 hour. Many private bus companies travel from Shimla, Hamirpur and Palampur.
