Kenmare is a city in the Lakes and Gardens region of North Dakota.
Get in
Kenmare is about 50 miles northwest of Minot on US 52, and about 30 miles south of the Canadian border. ND 5 and ND 8 also provide access to the area, intersecting US 52 in nearby Bowbells.

- π Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge. Located along Des Lacs Lake, it extends from the CanadaβUnited States border to the Kenmare area. The refuge was established in 1935 and includes 19,500 acres. The refuge is considered to be one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the U.S., with tens of thousands of birds using the refuge for migration and breeding. The refuge is also home to elk, moose, bison and pronghorn. Take the 13-mile Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge Scenic Backway from US 52 to Ward CR 1.
- Danish Mill, Town Square. The only Danish Mill in the United States. Built in 1902 by Christian C. Jensen on his homestead. Moved to Kenmare location in 1959.

- Bike the Border, Bowbells (17 miles NW of Kenmare on US 52). Annual bicycle event held in late June.
- Goosefest. An 8-day annual hunting festival held in late October, which occurs during the peak migration of snow geese.
