Llangynwyd
Llangynwyd is a village 2 miles to the south of Maesteg, in the county borough of Bridgend, Wales. There are two parts to Llangynwyd, the larger more recent village is simply known as Llangynwyd while the smaller much older part which contains St Cynwyds church is locally known as "Top Llan".
Understand
Llangynwyd was part of the medieval commote (Welsh: cwmwd) of Tir Iarll. Its population was about 3,000 in 2011. The village is the site of Llangynwyd parish church, the ruins of Llangynwyd Castle and one of the oldest pubs in Wales (the Old House, dating from 1147.)
