Lopé National Park
Lopé National Park is in the Central Highlands region of Gabon. The Lopé-Okanda ecosystem and landscape was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007.

History
The wildlife reserve was established in 1946, the first in the country.
Landscape
Most of the park consists of rainforests. In the north, there is wide savannah that was created 15,000 years ago during the Ice Age.
See
There is a small research station named Mikongo, run by the Zoological Society of London. It is based in the village of the same name, which has some tourist infrastructure.
