Lyford Cay

Lyford Cay is a by-invitation-only private resort in the Bahamas, located on New Providence Island.

Understand

This is an exclusive residential area of over a square mile (over 400 hectares) and over 16 km from downtown Nassau. It was built in the 1950s by the Canadian industrialist E. P. Taylor. The club complex now comprises more than 300 parcels of land and is secured by a high wall. There the richest of the rich have their mansions. Average monthly net incomes are at least $1 million, and land prices range between $1 million and $30 million. The area, which is strongly secured around the clock, can only be accessed with a personal invitation, which is very rare. The golf course is not open to the public.

The shopping center, on the other hand, is located directly outside the entrance gates and can therefore be visited by anyone. Other facilities include a church, hospital, post office, 800 meters of beautiful private beach, a school, 12 tennis courts and a marina with a yacht club. There is also a second residential area of the same style directly northeast: Old Fort Bay, along with a shopping center that's accessible to the public.
