Macklin, population 1,250 (2021), is a small town situated near one of the most productive oil and natural gas producing fields in the province. It is the host of the annual Bunnock World Championship, during which the town population doubles in size.

Macklin is located on Highway 14 and Highway 31 about 5 km (3 mi) east of the Alberta–Saskatchewan border and 240 km (150 mi) west of Saskatoon.

  • World's Largest Bunnock (Jct Hwy 14 & 31), ☏ +1 306-753-2256. ​The World's Largest Bunnock and Tourist Information Centre is a 32-ft. high replica of a horse ankle bone, or as it's more commonly known a 'Bunnock'. The structure houses a tourist information centre where the guest services agents provide visitors with information on Macklin and surrounding area as well as tourist information on the entire province. Information on the Bunnock game, demonstrations and apparel are available upon request.
  • Macklin and District Museum, 5002 Herald St (corner of Herald St & Express Ave, across from the school), ☏ +1 306-753-2256. Jul 1-Aug 31: Tu,Th 1-4PM, F 1-3PM; other times by appointment. Located in Macklin's first hospital, it displays historic items of Macklin and the surrounding area. An annual haunted house is held near the end of October.

  • Bunnock (World Bunnock Championship Tournament). August Long Weekend. Bunnock is a throwing game where players throw bones at an oppositions' rows of bones, trying to do so in the fewest throws possible; the team that knocks down all of the opposition's bones first wins. Bunnock is played in teams of four, which must contain at least one person of the opposite sex. Macklin hosts the World Bunnock Championships every August, doubling the size of the town.
  • 🌍 Dillberry Lake Provincial Park (30 km N of Macklin on Hwy 17), ☏ +1 780-858-6915. Located north of Macklin and just inside the Alberta border, Dillberry Lake Provincial Park offers beach activities, camping, canoeing/kayaking, cross-country skiing, fishing, and hiking.
  • Macklin Lake Regional Park, Highway 31 (1 km S of Macklin), ☏ +1 306-753-2175. Contains a campground with 164 campsites, diked-off swimming area, beach, ball diamonds, and a nine-hole golf course. Macklin Lake is stocked with perch and there is a trout pond stocked with rainbow trout.
  • Macklin Lakeview Golf Club, 4604 Sun Avenue (adjacent to Macklin Lake Regional Park), ☏ +1 306-753-2175. 9-hole golf course.
