Methven

Methven is a small town with a population of 1,900 people, and the home of Mt. Hutt ski area in Canterbury, New Zealand. Approximately 93 km from Christchurch International Airport, the area is renowned as being a year-round base for action sports enthusiasts, being home to a wide range of activities.

By airport shuttle

Methven Travel runs transport services to and from Christchurch Airport, with summer and winter timetables. In winter, the shuttle travels each way three times a day.

  • 🌍 Rangitata Diversion Race (RDR). A public works project that diverts water from the Rangitata River into Rakaia River while irrigating farms along the way. It goes by the north of Methven and under Waimarama Road and Mount Hutt Station Road. There are also a few walks that lead to the RDR from the town.
