New Jersey Transit provides service to New Brunswick, Edison, Metuchen, and Woodbridge on the Northeast Corridor, and to South Amboy, Perth Amboy, and Woodbridge on the North Jersey Coast Line. Amtrak intercity trains are available at New Brunswick Station and Metropark Station in Woodbridge.

NJ Transit buses run throughout the county. Driving by private car is easy and parking is generally plentiful. Rush hour congestion across major arteries (such as the Raritan River Bridge between New Brunswick and Highland Park) can be exasperating if you are in a hurry.
