Minhou
Minhou is a partly rural and partly suburban area in Fujian, administered as a county of the prefecture-level city Fuzhou. Geographically, it wraps around the south and west sides of downtown Fuzhou.
Understand
Near the Min River, west of downtown Fuzhou, Minhou is a fast-growing suburban area with much new high-rise housing.
Starting just after the turn of the century, a new "University City" was built in Minhou; about half a dozen institutions now have campuses there.
Get in
The suburban parts of Minhou can be reached on Fuzhou city buses, or by taxi at reasonable cost. For more distant parts, there are buses and trains from Fuzhou. Two of the universities, Fuzhou U and Fujian Normal U, have their own train stations.
Some of the universities run shuttle buses between their downtown and Minhou campuses.
