Monument is a town of 10,000 people (2020) in Colorado, USA about 15 miles north of Colorado Springs and about 5 miles southeast of Palmer Lake.

Understand

Monument was first settled as a stop along the Rio Grande Railroad in 1872, and the area was incorporated as a town called Henry's Station in 1879, but the name was later changed to Monument.

Interstate 25 divides Monument, which is exit # 161. Highway 83 runs north and south approximately 5 miles to the east of town.

Interstate 25 passes over the top of Monument Hill which frequently experiences hazardous road conditions, particularly in the winter months. This highway is the main connection between Denver and Colorado Springs. State Highway 105 also runs east/west through Monument.
