  • 🌍 Melrose Plantation. Summer Th-M 11AM-4PM, winter Th-Su 10AM-4PM.. A historic yucca plantation, established by a former slave. The plantation has 9 historic buildings. Hourly guided tours of the big house, which was built in 1832. Guided tour of house $15, grounds only $5.
  • 🌍 St. Augustine Parish (Isle Brevelle) Church, 2262 Highway 484. services Sa 5PM Su 10:30AM, Tu, Th, F, 8AM, W, 6PM. Roman Catholic Church built in 1917 on a site which has documented church use since 1829. Established in 1803 by Augustin Métoyer. Church services been held continuously since then. It is the oldest church in the United States that was founded by and for the mixed-Creole people. The church was built by sons of Métoyer and Marie Thérèse Coin-coin. Because of the significance of the Créole church's history and its centrality in the life of the community, it is featured on the Louisiana African American Heritage Trail.
