Neston

Neston is a former mining village of 15,000 people (2011) on the Wirral peninsula in Cheshire.

Get in

  • Turn off the A540 at the B5134 and B5136 junctions. The A540 road links Neston to Heswall and West Kirby to the north, and Cheshire, Chester and North Wales to the south. Neston is also close to the M53 and M56 motorways, giving it access to Liverpool, Manchester, and the larger M6 motorway.

Neston railway station is situated on the Borderlands Line, providing direct services southbound to Flintshire and Wrexham, and northbound to Bidston, with connecting services to the Merseyrail network between West Kirby and Liverpool.

  • Heswall also provides a quiet, attractive view along the River Dee. Ten minutes by car.
  • Central Wirral is the rural interior of the peninsula. Ten minutes by car.
  • West Kirby and Hoylake each have excellent stretches of beach, with views across to North Wales. There is also a 52 acre marine lake at West Kirby, which has sailing and windsurfing. Twenty minutes by car.
  • Ellesmere Port is twenty minutes by car.
  • Wrexham is thirty minutes by train.
  • Head to the North Wales coast, through Deeside and Flint, to Prestatyn and Rhyl.
