Pegnitz

Pegnitz is a town of some 13000 in Upper Franconia.

Pegnitz shares its name with the river which originates here and flows through Nuremberg before joining with the Rednitz in Fürth to form the Regnitz, which ultimately flows into the Main river.

By train

  • 🌍 Pegnitz Station. This station sits along the non-electrified line linking Nuremberg and Cheb with direct trains running hourly to places like Nuremberg or Bayreuth. There are longstanding plans to electrify the line, but as of 2019 more talk than action has come of it. Pegnitz is in the VGN and VGN tickets are valid on regional trains
