PheZulu Safari Park is in Bothas Hill, West Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Understand

Located in Bothas Hill, in the valley of 1000 Hills. PheZulu was once a village named Zulu before its transformation into a park.

Get in

About 35 km, a 40-minute drive from Durban:

  • Take N3 toll road to Pietermaritzburg.
  • Go through the Marianhill toll plaza.
  • The first off ramp left – Assagay/Shongweni/Hillcrest, take this off ramp.
  • At Stop street turn right into Kassier Road over N3 freeway, about 5 km.
  • At T-junction (traffic lights) turn left, this is Old Main Road (R103) about 7 km.
  • PheZulu is on your right hand side.

See

  • Reptile Park. In here, you get to see an old Nile crocodile and Burmese python. Other snakes you can find include the black and green Mamba, cobra, vine snake Olive House snake and even more. Adult R70, child R60.
  • Zulu dancing. Adult R150, child R100.

Do

  • Segway Tours.
  • Safari Game drives. Game drives are conducted every hour in a 4×4 by an experienced guide who makes commentary while showing you around the park. You get to see wildebeest, impala, blesbok, zebra, and giraffe. Adult R240, child R130.

Eat

  • Nguni Cafe. 8AM-4:30PM. Offers dishes including crocodile burgers, samosa, wraps.
  • Boma Restaurant. Offers traditional dishes peculiar to the Zulus.
