Pyhäjoki
Pyhäjoki is a town and municipality in the Western Oulu region.
Understand
In the late 2010s and early 2020s the town was probably best known in Finland for the Hanhikivi nuclear power plant project. Preparations were made to start the construction by the Russian state-owned Rosatom corporation, but in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine the project was canceled.

By car
Highway 8 between Kokkola and Oulu passes the town. Two regional roads connect to inland towns; 790 to Vihanti and 787 to Merijärvi.
By bus
Long-distance buses along Highway 8 stop here.
