  • 🌍 Redwater Provincial Recreation Area (10 km E of Redwater on Hwy 644), +1 780-922-3293. The Redwater Provincial Recreation Area boasts one of the largest sand dune fields in the region. It can be found in the northeast section of Sturgeon County, straight east of Redwater, near the North Saskatchewan River. Its rolling sand hills are ideally suited for recreational vehicle day use and the area contains numerous natural trails and habitat indicative of the region. It is used extensively by OHV riders but is also environmentally significant and used for both conservation and recreation purposes. This site is run by Alberta Parks.

  • Fishing: the Redwater area offers fishing for pike, walleye, goldeye, and perch on the Redwater and Sturgeon Rivers.

Redwater is a jumping off point to Northeastern Alberta, with the Highway 28/63 intersection being 10 minutes northeast of town. Travelers can either continue east towards Bonnyville and Cold Lake via Highway 28, or north towards Lac La Biche and Fort McMurray via Highway 63.
