Riksgränsen

Riksgränsen is a Swedish ski resort 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, in Kiruna municipality. Located right at the border with Norway, the name Riksgränsen literally means "The National Border".

Understand

Riksgränsen is the world's northernmost ski resort. It opened in 1928 at Malmbanan, the rail line between Luleå and Narvik.

Get in

By train

SJ has sleeper trains from Stockholm and Gothenburg to Riksgränsen. From Riksgränsen railway station it is not more than a few hundred metres to Hotell Riksgränsen and the ski slope.

By plane

There are domestic flights from Stockholm to Kiruna, which is the closest airport. The flight takes approximately 90 minutes and from Kiruna you need to get a bus, train or car to Riksgränsen. The transfer does also take about 90 minutes.

By car

You will easily reach Riksgränsen by taking the E10 that passes right through the village.
