Saint-Louis (Haut-Rhin)

Saint-Louis is in Grand-Est. Despite being separated from it by an international border, it serves in many ways as a suburb of Basel, including being linked to its tram network.

Get in

By plane

🌍 EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse. The airport shared by Basel and Mulhouse (and with different IATA codes assigned to each nominal city) actually sits mostly on the territory of Saint-Louis.

Getting there: bus 11 runs from Gare de Saint-Louis, €2.50 (Aug 2018). Taxi from Saint-Louis costs around €15-€20, and from Basel €20-€25.

By tram

A tram line across the border from neighbouring Basel opened in December 2017. There are plans to eventually extend the line all the way to the airport.

By bus

Buses 603, 604, and 607 run from Basel (from the Schifflände bus stop), €2.80 (Aug 2018). In France, these routes drop the leading "60", and thus are numbered 3, 4, and 7 respectively.

By train

The railway line connecting Basel and Strasbourg passes through Saint-Louis.

Get around

The Distribus company operates a dozen bus routes inside the town. Bus maps can be found on the Distribus website. A single ticket costs €1.70, return €2.80. Crossborder INFLEX ticket to Basel - €2.80 or Fr. 3.10.
