Setcases
Understand
Setcases is a town in the Girona Province.
The place name is in Catalan and means "seven houses". It is said that a shepherd, surprised by the winter, built seven huts here with his sons.
It consists of over two dozen typical mountain stone houses with protruding wooden roof gables. The small village is at an altitude of 1275 m.
The name Setcases has been documented back to 965, from records of some donations made by Count Sunifred of Besalú, one of the Catalan counties, in the nearby monastery of Sant Pere de Camprodon.
