Get in
By car
You can use Route 178 from the German border or Route 173 from Kufstein to get to the Wilder Kaiser (Scheffau, Ellmau-Going and Söll). If you want to get to Brixental, you can use route 170.
By train
Brixen, Westendorf and Hopfgarten all have ÖBB stations, so you can connect to the wider Austrian rail network via Kitzbühel.
Get around
There is an extensive ski lift system, with ski buses running from most town centers to the main lifts in each town. Brixen, Westendorf and Hopfgarten all have direct rail links to the ÖBB, so that can also be used. There is also a gritted road system running between all of the towns.
See
In the summer, you can hike from Scheffau to the Hintersteiner See and up to the Wilder Kaiser. There are also panoramas up in the main ski area.
Do
The SkiWelt is primarily a ski resort, but in the summer they have 'Adventure Lands'. These are set up by each individual resort, and are aimed at children. Some of the ski lifts (mainly gondolas) are still open in the summer to transport people up the mountains.
Eat
There are several restaurants in the SkiWelt. Some worth mentioning are:
- Elfer Alm (Westendorf)
- Brandstadl Restaurant (Scheffau)
- The Bergkaiser Panorama Restaurant HartKaiser (Ellmau-Going)
There are also other restaurants and 'Skihutten' depending on where you ski/stay.
Drink
The SkiWelt's Skihutten are worth mentioning again, but there are also various bars in hotels and around the resorts.
Stay safe
There are police stations in Söll, Hopfgarten and Westendorf. The prefix to contact the police is 133, mountain rescue is 140, the fire brigade is 122 and the ambulance is 144.
