Understand

South Gujarat is one of the wettest regions of India. Its geography varies widely from the coastal plains in the west to the Western Ghats in the east. Some parts of the Southern Gujarat (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman (India)) were under Portuguese rule for centuries alongside Goa and Diu. The rest of Southern Gujarat was under the British rule till independence.

Surat Airport (STV IATA) is a domestic airport in Surat. Air India has daily flights to and from Delhi. SpiceJet operates daily from Surat to Mumbai (Bombay) and Delhi.

By road

Most of the highways that connect Gujarat with the rest of India goes through this region.

By train

There are trains from and to Mumbai (500 km) and New Delhi (1000 km) and other big cities of India several times a day going to Surat.

Get around

As in the rest of Gujarat, most people in this region travel by private buses or by taxi.

Drink

As in the rest of Gujarat, alcohol is forbidden in most of South Gujarat, except in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman.
