Southeast (Rio Grande do Sul)
The Southeast is a region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the South of Brazil.
Cities
- 🌍 Arroio Grande —
- 🌍 Chuí — at the border with Uruguay. It's right across the street from its sister town of Chuy
- 🌍 Jaguarão — has a splendid collection of more than 800 buildings that preserve various architectural styles
- 🌍 Pelotas — known as the National Capital of Sweets, it has many European-style buildings
- 🌍 Rio Grande — the state's first settlement and first capital, today one of the most important maritime ports in Brazil
- 🌍 São José do Norte — an old settlement bathed to the south by the Lagoa dos Patos estuary, to the west by Lagoa dos Patos and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean
- 🌍 São Lourenço do Sul — one of the most beautiful cities on the Costa Doce, it has hotels, inns, cabins and campsites for vacationers who come from different parts of Brazil

- 🌍 Dom Pedro II Citadel in Caçapava do Sul (Forte de Dom Pedro II de Caçapava), Rua Dom Pedro II, Caçapava do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul (A small 20-minute detour south of the BR-290/BR-392 junction if you're driving from Porto Alegre to Uruguaiana or from Santa Maria to Pelotas.). A large, hexagonal 19th century citadel with projecting pentagonal bastions that sits in the middle of the city. Constructed 1848–1856.
