Most travellers will drive via I-20 from either the Dallas direction or from El Paso. US-84 from Lubbock hits I-20 about 3 miles west.

- Air turbines. Hundreds of air turbines. The county for which Sweetwater is the seat is one of the world's top producers of energy from wind power. The city is sometimes referred to as the "Wind Turbine Capital of Texas."

- Sweetwater Jaycee's Rattlesnake Roundup, Nolan County Coliseum, 1699 Cypress, β +1 325 235-3484. This unique event, held annually in early March, centers around the region's most dangerous reptile, with a range of wacky diversions such as a guided snake hunt, a cook-off and rattlesnake-eating contest, a beard contest, a "Miss Snakecharmer" beauty pageant, and an evening dance.
Eat
Most of the restaurants in town are either on the access road to I-20, or along Broadway street. Aside from the many chain fast food restaurants, there are not a great many options.
