House of the founding pioneer whom this city was named after, John Tigard. His parents, Wilson McClendon Tigard and wife Mary Ann came out on the Oregon Trail from Arkansas to settle on a Donation Land Claim of 320 acres. The town was called East Butte and later renamed Tigardville. To avoid confusion with Wilsonville, the name was later shortened to Tigard. The home contains four rooms besides the entryway, a parlor, one bedroom, a kitchen and pantry. The Tigards' children slept in the attic. Today the home has been restored to its former glory while the parlor is furnished as it might have been when the Tigards lived here.
