Tone (利根) is a town in Ibaraki, Japan.

Tone is located in the most southern part of Ibaraki. Its name derives from the Tone River.

It's about 50 min by car from central Tokyo. Narita Airport is nearby.

  • 🌍 Kunio Yanagida Memorial Park (柳田國男記念公苑), 1787-1, Fukawa,, +81 297 68 7189. 09:00-16:30. The house of Japanese folklorist "Yanagida Kunio" is preserved. Materials related to Kunio are on display there. Free.
  • 🌍 Tokuman-ji Temple (徳満寺), 3004, Fukawa,, +81 297 68 2442. The temple was founded in the 16th century. Free.
  • 🌍 Kōmō Shrine (蚊蝄神社), 882, Tachigi,, +81 297 68 7278, fax: +81 297 68 8957. Very old shrine. According to oral heritage, it was founded in 288BC lore and there are written records dating back to 698AD. Free.

Do

  • Donto-Yaki (どんと焼き). In mid-January, New Year offerings are burned around the town.
