Vălenii de Munte

Vălenii de Munte (occasionally Văleni Prahova) is a town in Muntenia.

Understand

It is located about 95 km north of Bucharest and 28 km north of Ploiești in the hilly area near the Carpathian mountains on the Teleajen river valley. Vălenii de Munte was first documented in the 15th century. It was known as a market town in the early years, mainly because of its proximity to the Walachia - Transilvania border greatly developed trade in the area. Several constructions from that time still stand and are visitable, including the "Mănăstirea" church, dated 1680, and the "Sf. Nicolae Tabaci" church.

By bus

There are minibuses from Ploiești (30-40 minutes travel time, and very frequent) and several daily buses from Bucharest (two hours travel time); some of their schedules are available on autogari.ro.

By train

Vălenii de Munte is situated on the Ploiesti - Maneciu railway. Trains arrive every few hours. From Ploiesti there are connections to Bucharest and Brașov.

Get around

The town can be visited on foot. It has a length of about 5 km, and the central area where most of the objectives are located is less than 2½ km
