Vellinge
Vellinge is a municipality at the southwestern edge of Scania, containing a peninsula with twin towns Skanör and Falsterbo.
Understand
The northern part of the settlement is in Eskilstorp's parish and here is Eskilstorp's church. The central and southern part is the church village in Vellinge parish with Vellinge church. The town is on Söderslätt, next to the E6/E22 motorway between Malmö and Trelleborg.
About 7,000 people live in the village, and 38,000 in the municipality, as of 2020.
Vellinge village centre dates back to the late Viking Age around 1000 AD, as excavations have shown.

At Vellinge ängar, by the municipal hall is the motorway bus stop where buses arrve from Malmö, Trelleborg, Höllviken and Falsterbo.
See
- 🌍 Vellinge kyrka. Despite many later additions, much of the original Romanesque church is preserved to this day.
- 🌍 Falsterbokanalen. A 1.6 km canal finished in 1941, used by small craft.
- 🌍 Foteviken Museum. An open-air Viking museum centered around a large Viking settlement reconstruction. The area is an important archaeological site of the Viking Age and the naval Battle of Fotevik was fought around here in 1134. Experimental archaeology, roleplays and season program and engaging activities for the whole family.
- 🌍 Skanörs borg. A castle ruin.
