Vils in Tirol
Vils is a small town in Tyrol. It is close to Füssen in Germany and makes for a more sedate alternative base for trips to the castles of Hohenschwangau.

From Innsbruck, it takes 2h40m, change trains in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then in Reutte in Tirol.
From Munich, its takes 2h40 - 3h. You will either change trains in Kempten only or in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then in Reutte in Tirol. The Bayern-Ticket, a Bavaria-wide travel pass, is valid for the trip from Munich to Vils.
Get around
Bus 71 heads direct to the castles. Bus 74 heads to the nearby German town of Füssen.
