Viruveedu
Viruveedu is a village of about 5,500 people near Vathagundu town, at border of Dindigul District in Southwestern Tamil Nadu.

Viruveedu is approximately 49 km away from Dindigul by road. There are regular buses (every 15 minutes) from Vathagundu and Usilampatti bus stands and it is a 25-minute ride to this town. Kodaikanal road railway station is on the Chennai-Madurai main railway route and is twenty kilometers by road to Batlagundu on the way to Kodaikanal Hill station. There are regular buses (every 10 minutes) from Arappalyam bus stand in Madurai through Usilampatti and is a comfortable 1½-hour drive (approx. 60 km). This area is famous cultivation of Jasmine, Drum Stick (Murungaikaai), and other vegetable. There is available Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Banks and 24 Hours running facility Government Hospital.

- 'Sri Gurunathaswamy temple' - This temple is situated in Viruveedu which is 9 km from Batlagundu on the Batlagundu-Usilampatti road. The presiding deities are Gurunathaswamy, Angala Parameswari and some other deities. This temple is considered over 300 years old and has been renovated. This temple is on the eastern bank of river vaigai. The village of Kunnuvarankottai is on the western bank of river Vaigai.
