West Sacramento

West Sacramento is a city of 54,000 people (2019) in Yolo County in the Sacramento Valley of California. West Sacramento is on the west bank of the Sacramento River, opposite the city of Sacramento.

The traditional industrial center of the region since the Gold Rush era, West Sacramento is home to a diverse economy.

  • 🌍 The Ziggurat, 707 3rd Street. A ten-story, stepped pyramidal office building and adjacent five-story concrete parking structure on the shore of the Sacramento River built in 1997. Designed by Sacramento architect Edwin Kado to resemble the ancient Mesopotamian ziggurats, the building has been the California Department of General Services headquarters since 2001.
