Get in

By bus

Buses going between Adigrat and Mekele can drop passengers off at Wukro.

Get around

The town is small and walkable.

See

  • 🌍 Wukro Chirkos. The first rock-hewn church known outside Ethiopia, and also one of the easiest to access, since it's in the town itself. Other rock-hewn churches in the area require transport.
  • 🌍 Wukro Archaeological Museum, Unnamed Road, +251 34 440 9360. Focuses on a number of important archaeological digs. Well set out and has a guide employed by the museum, which is a pleasant bonus.

Sleep

  • 🌍 Fisseha Hotel, +251 91 473 0898. Good rooms and a restaurant well known for its (excellent) roast goat.
