- 🌍 Ruins of Ouara (50 km north of Abéché). Former capital of the Wadai Empire. It has been deserted since its wells went dry in the late 19th century and the capital was moved to Abéché. Situated between hills, it is still home to a ruined palace, mosque and city wall. It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 2005.
