Dounan

Dounan (斗南鎮) is a township that in Yunlin County, Taiwan.

Understand

The original name of Dounan is Taliwu (他里霧), a name taken from one of the branches of an aboriginal tribe. The development of Taliwu had started since the Ming Dynasty, when Koxinga came to Taiwan.

The township is accessible by train through the following TRA stations:

  • 🌍 Dounan station (斗南車站), No. 2, Zhongshan Rd. The station was constructed in 1903, and is a mix of Japanese and Western-style architecture. (updated Dec 2020)

  • 🌍 Former Dounan Police Precinct Building (斗南分局舊辦公廳舍), No. 170, Zhongshan Road, ☏ +88655978391. An historic building that once served as the police headquarters for the area. There is not much to see or do inside, but the building is worth stopping by for a few photos. (updated Dec 2020)
